NHS

At the moment laser eye surgery is not provided free of charge on the NHS (National Health Service) therefore it means that patients usually have to shop around to get the best deal. As the laser eye surgery market in the UK is very competitive there are currently some excellent deals on the treatment but it should be advised to make sure you are comparing like for like eye surgery treatments when making the decision.

  1. Tracey says:

I recently paid £3,800 for wavefront lasik at the Chester branch of Ultralase. Money well spent.

  2. Cherie Brown says:

I paid an expensive £4,500 for my laser eye surgery just over a year and a half ago. This was done at Optimax in London. I’ve seen much cheaper deals are available from Optimax but I had quite a high prescription, thus the cost. Definitely worth it though as my eyesight is now fab and I love it!

  3. Simon Cox says:

Was quoted £5,000 at the Ultralase Chester branch recently, far too expensive for me. I will now be going to a consultation at a few other clinics and will be hoping to get both eyes done at around the £3,000 mark.

  4. Jessie says:

I paid £4,000 at the Ultralase in St Albans, they were not the most expensive but were by far the best!

  5. David says:

I paid just over £3,5k at Moorfields Eye Hosiptal. I think that was a very good result, especially with my poor eyesight and also seems similar to prices outside the capital. I’m happy with it anyway even if Optical express offer laser eye surgery for £395.

  6. Justin Suitor says:

The price of laser eye surgery is too expensive for me at the moment. Maybe a solution is to get one eye done then save up again and get another eye done, or should both eyes be done at the same time?

  7. Louise Wilkinson says:

I paid just under £2,500 at the Optimax branch in Hove, I did have monovision.

  8. Tom says:

I had Lasik surgery at the Ultralase clinic in Liverpool and eventually £3,350. I’m short sighted and my prescription was quite high, but now I can see objects in the distance which is fantastic and always what I wanted.

  9. Natasha Patel says:

I had my treatment at the Optimax branch in Central London, the treatment came to a total of £2,950 but I was very happy with the overall results. I’m short sighted and had a high prescription so I wasn’t expecting to get the lowest price possible. The price was much lower than some of the other clinics in Central London with one quote at £6,000!

  10. James W says:

I qualified for cheap laser eye surgery as my prescription was quite low. I visited the Optical Express store in Manchester for my treatment, however I did have to visit 2 others till I got the price, seems like you suggest Optical Express are charging different prices at different outlets for the same prescription. At £395 per year I was very happy though!

  11. Jeanette Goodison says:

I paid for my laser eye surgery in instalments, I was quoted £2.7k and simply couldn’t afford to pay this in one lump sum so they have agreed for me to pay over the next 12 months. This was the cheapest laser eye surgery quote I got and am due to have my treatment next month, keep you posted.

  12. Julie Bird says:

I’ve just been quoted by two different Optical Express stores and one was £395 per eye whilst the other was £795 per eye. Should a big difference and they both quoted me the same prescription. Going to plan a consultation with Ultralase now and see if I trust them more.

  13. Gary Warrington says:

I used the advice on this site and to haggle with my local clinic and eventually got £500 off the treatment. Only after the treatment did I receive a voucher for £500 off treatment at the Focus clinic in London.
